Pete believes government should work for the people it serves.
As governor, he cut the growth of government spending by over half from 6.5% to 2.8%. By rooting out waste and inefficiencies in state government, he improved government services while saving taxpayers money. Under Pete’s leadership, DMV wait times in South Omaha dropped from 29 minutes to eight minutes.
As a member of the DOGE Caucus, Pete is fighting to bring these successes to Washington. He introduced the bipartisan Improper Payments Transparency Act to clean up waste and abuse in Washington. He voted to improve government programs by holding states like California and New York accountable for fraud in SNAP. And he helped pass legislation that will cut nearly $2 trillion in government spending as the economy continues growing.
