Pete has helped President Trump bring illegal border crossings to a record low by voting to deliver $46.5 billion investment in border security. He voted to hire 16,000 border patrol agents and invest $4 billion in clearing the immigration court backlog. After Joe Biden intentionally opened our southern border, Pete has worked with President Trump to secure our border and keep Americans safe.
Pete has always stood with law enforcement and against soft-on-crime policies. When anti-law enforcement protestors took over American cities, Pete fought against calls to defund the police. As governor, he helped pass the most comprehensive law enforcement bill in memory. The legislation invests in education, hiring bonuses, and retirement packages for Nebraska law enforcement. Pete also led efforts to invest $47.7 million in expanding the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island. He also delivered a $16.9 million investment to upgrade the State Patrol Crime Lab.
In the Senate, Pete voted to provide law enforcement with more resources to combat fentanyl. And he has co-sponsored legislation giving harsher penalties for criminals who target law enforcement officers.
